7am last Tuesday, I woke up as a 30 year old for the first time. Oih.
Although none too enthusiastic about leaving my twenties, I was easily consoled when Boyf handed me a present, telling me it was my first. He was off to a good start right there. ;)
I unwrapped the parcel to find a birthday card.
I make cards, so he had made one for me! We laughed and laughed - such an absolutely joyful moment. Boyf told me he'd laughed as he made it, and that I should blog about the card. Happy to oblige. :) I absolutely love it.
Next, he'd wrapped up a bottle of 30 year old port, from the year I was born. It is actually one from his own collection - he was born in March of the same year - but he decided we should share it. Definitely a way to make a girl feel appreciated.
Then he handed me my last present.
Yeah, he did good! As Boyf reminded me, we'd actually been talking about iPads a few weeks prior, but I hadn't twigged in the slightest. I was absolutely surprised. And delighted. When I commented that he was spoiling me, he firmly agreed. I'll claim I'm worth it though! ;)
Then it was back to reality and a day at work. It was a little odd - I work in a small section, just me and one guy, so we aren't big on hoopla - as I walked around all day feeling like I had a secret that no one else knew. But, I did receive many lovely birthday calls, emails and messages.
That evening Boyf and I went out for dinner with my parents and I was further spoilt with more presents. The big one - the 50mm lens I'd been longing for! I'm pretty sure I'd decided by this stage that turning 30 was a wonderful thing. ;)
And I finally took some photos, my first of the day. I really wish I'd taken some that morning, but I didn't. Too busy enjoying the moment I suppose, and I need to be okay with that.
It was a lovely night, full of stories, laughs, good food and no hesitation about ordering dessert. (A wonderful caramel crème brulee by the way.)
All up, a day of feeling very special. And spoilt. Turns out, turning 30 rocks!
