It's deposit paid official, I've chosen my wedding dress!
My sister and I went to Armadale on Saturday with a wedding dress already in mind, just to see a few more options and make sure.
Our first appointment was at Amaline Vitale, where I tried on a couple dresses and they just weren't right. Then the assistant offered a suggestion, a dress which was classic and gorgeous and very flattering. I could just see in Jenna's face that she loved it. I was pretty taken too, but there was one more dress I'd pulled aside. I was trying on that last dress when the assistant suggested mixing and matching, pairing this skirt with that bodice. I loved the idea and we held up the dresses together, imagining how she would look. (They call the dresses 'she', which sounds like it should be pretentious, but just seemed lovely.) Pretty wonderful, I'm thinking.
The assistant wrote down the details for us and Jenna and I went to confer over some tea. I think we were both almost giddy, the previous favourite was long forgotten, this felt like THE dress. It was only sitting down at the cafe that I checked the card I'd been given and realised the assistant who'd help us was Amaline, the designer herself. That felt extra special. And reassuring.
With some time to fill before our next wedding dress appointment we decided to do a little shopping, stopping in at Willow where Jenna fell in love with a bridesmaid dress. On the sales rack with that one dress remaining, the size a bit larger than she normally wears, she almost didn't try it on. She did and she glowed. It is gorgeous, a pale peach/pink/skin tone colour, simple with beautiful detailing. It's not the colour I originally envisaged, but it is the perfect dress. I love how much she adores it - the dress is staying at her house for the moment so she can try it on every month - and we bought it for an incredible price.
It was as we were walking out of Willow that I decided, I was done looking at wedding dresses. It wasn't possible to find one any more perfect.
We cancelled the appointments at the other dress shops, paused for a delicious lunch then walked back to Amaline Vitale where I placed a deposit and they took measurements. The only difficult part, I have to wait until August, or thereabouts, before I have the first fitting. I can't wait to see 'her'!
No doubt about it, 8. Fall in love with a wedding dress is complete.
Oh, and we stopped at a shoe store on the way home and brought Jenna a pair of shoes to go with the bridesmaid dress. On sale. It was a pretty awesome day.
