December 14: We hosted a Christmas celebration lunch with friends at our house.
Journaling reads:
Christmas celebrating with friends. 5 meats - trout, ham, pork, lamb & turkey; 2 salads, 2 desserts. Showing off our culinary expertise, & probably better than many of us will eat on Christmas Day! (Coz it's totally normal to host 9 people for lunch 2 days after returning home from overseas!) A lovely, relaxed afternoon.
December 15: We decorated the Christmas tree, using a colour scheme of black, white, silver, gold, red and green. The Mickey ear ornaments were a new purchase from Disneyworld and I found the glass camera (just the one) at Myer on my shopping day with Nicole.
Because I had already enlarged a photo over multiple pockets, on Day 2, it was something I wanted to repeat. I've used some Ali Edwards word art - both a stamp and digital files - and covered the sentiment on a Studio Calico journaling card. I haven't decided whether or not to add anything to the ornament pocket (from Basic Grey I think) before sewing it closed.
December 16: This was the day Australia awoke to the news two hostages lives had been lost before the siege in Sydney was resolved.
It's quite a transition from celebrations and twinkle. I used a Paislee Press template as the basis for my journaling card, where I wrote just a few words. The banner is from Ali Edwards which I converted into a cut file and cut from vellum. It is attached with spray adhesive onto a clear transparency. I tried to create a little space for the recording of this day, and intentionally placed it in the corner.
